Who is IC Credit Union?
We are a Credit Union that is federally insured by NCUA and is an Equal Opportunity Lender. We reward YOU…every day.
Who Are We?
IC Credit Union is a full-service Credit Union, but more importantly, we’re people like you, helping people like you. Yes…we have checking and saving accounts; auto loans and mortgages…you get the gist. But what we pride ourselves most on is helping you through every stage of your life.
From the birth of your new baby, to planning your retirement, and everything in between, we’ve got you covered. And because we live and work in the community that you live and work in, we understand the local needs and reach out to help and assist when and where we can. It’s what you’ve come to expect, and we expect it from ourselves too!
A Look Back
IC Credit Union can trace its roots back to 1928–almost 20 years after the first credit union was opened in the United States. During this time, there was a strong desire to combat the exclusionary practices of traditional banking.
IC was founded as a Member-owned, non-profit institution, chartered to encourage savings by offering a fair return on deposits; in turn used to offer low-cost loans.
The Mission: To improve the well-being of our Members by providing innovative products and services while promoting Member education and community support through a team of caring, knowledgeable and empowered professionals.
Change is Good
In 1986, we changed our charter from state to federal, which allowed us to broaden our Field of Membership. We then became: IC Federal Credit Union.
Our new field of membership expanded to include individuals who live, work or worship in these Massachusetts counties: Worcester, Middlesex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, and Norfolk. This also includes spouses of individuals who passed away while Members, credit union employees, members of their immediate families, and organizations of such individuals.
Benefits of Change
Shortly thereafter, we began an expansion strategy into new locations in Leominster, Westminster, and Ayer thus increasing our ability to serve the northern region more effectively.
Moving Forward
In 2006, we relocated and updated our Parkhill branch with state-of-the-art technology, including an internet café, and an open-dialogue concept, giving Members a more relaxed environment in which to bank. TV displays scrolled updated information, and an ATM, with drive-thru access, was installed.
Continuing our innovative focus, in 2011, we also relocated our Westminster branch, which features a welcoming, open-concept design where Members can relax in our Hospitality Area or read about important financial topics while watching IC news in our new Financial Center. A newly updated, yet similar innovative dialogue banking center was also deployed at the Worcester and Marlborough locations, opened in 2015, and 2018 respectively. Members can enjoy a casual conversation in the open area, which includes a technology station, or can have a private discussion in one of the studio offices, all while enjoying free wifi and comfortable seating.
As we continue to innovate and grow, your needs will be at the forefront of our direction.
